Last-Minute Donation Saves Fireworks Show
The fireworks will go off Saturday night in Shakopee after a last-minute donation by the city.
The display is part of the annual Derby Days festival.
Because they were low on donations, the festival committee was going to have to use money from its reserve fund to help pay for the fireworks. So, the city is donating more than $10,000. That will cover most of the fireworks bill.
Many say the city saved the day. Others say it should have saved its money.
The mayor says this is a one-time-only donation.
