Scientists have a new theory about why some cancers return.
They think tumors contain a pool of certain stem cells, and those cells multiply and re-grow cancer. Scientists say the discovery could change treatment, and in the future, doctors will have to kill off the tumor and the stem cells.
The research was published in yesterday’s Nature and Science journal.
