EmailWWII Fighter Plane ‘Glacier Girl’ on Display in Wisconsin
A WWII fighter plane is drawing major crowds in Wisconsin because it spent 50 years stuck in ice.
The Glacier Girl made an emergency landing in Greenland in 1942; the crew was rescued, but the plane was stuck. It wasn’t until 1992 that the Glacier Girl was recovered. It took another 20 years to fully restore the plane.
The Glacier Girl is on display as part of EAA AirVenture going on in Oshkosh. The event runs through Sunday.
