EmailVehicle Hits, Kills Woman in Rice County
A 48-year-old rural Northfield woman has died after she was hit by a vehicle on 80th Street West in Webster Township.
According to the Rice County Sheriff's Department, officers responded to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian around 8 a.m. Thursday.
Officers found the woman, later identified as Kimberly Motzko, in a ditch. She was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center where she later died.
Authorities say 56-year-old Michael Moreland was the driver of the vehicle. His 10-year-old son was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Both Moreland and his son were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of this crash is under investigation.
