U of M to Expand Medical Devices Center

The University of Minnesota will be expanding the Medical Devices Center after receiving a grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
The $1.08 million grant will convert part of the Mayo Parking Garage into an expanded Medical Devices Center facility on the Minneapolis campus. The College of Science and Engineering will contribute the remaining $2.2 million for the project.
According to the university, the Medical Devices Center includes laboratories, equipment, support facilities, training programs, and expert personnel. Administrators say the expanded center could create at least 80 new jobs in Minnesota.
Construction on the facility is expected to begin this fall.
