EmailGophers to Wear Gary Tinsley's Number this Season
The Gopher football team will be honoring Gary Tinsley this season by wearing a patch with the number 51 on it.
Twenty-two-year-old Tinsley died in his dorm room in Wilkins Hall this past April of heart failure. He was a popular player on the University of Minnesota team.
Following Tinsley's death, former Gopher football coach Tim Brewster described the linebacker as someone with a passion and energy for life.
"We talked about being a band of brothers, the brotherhood the team had, and Gary stood for all that," Brewster said. "He was just an amazing young kid."
The Gophers’ first game is Aug. 30 against UNLV.
