Projections: Plane Tickets to Rise 8 Percent Next Year from MSP

Even if your summer vacation is over for this year, you may want to start planning for next year’s. It’s not looking good if you’re planning to fly.

New projections show plane tickets could rise nearly 8 percent next year for flying out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International, according to Carlson Wagonlit Travel.

The reason is because of smaller planes, fewer flights, and the fact that we have a dominant carrier in the market – Delta. Travelers we talked to said a couple percentage points could cost them hundreds of dollars.

Travel experts say popular destinations like Orlando, Las Vegas, and San Francisco shouldn’t see as much of an increase because there’s more competition in those cities.
