Lightning Strikes 3 Elk River Homes, Sparks 2 Fires
Lightning struck three homes in Elk River Saturday morning, sparking fires at two of them.
Shortly before 8 a.m., a fire started in the basement of a home at 200 Lowel Ave. following a lightning strike. Fire officials say everyone made it out of the home safely. The damage was described as "minimal."
Around 8:30 a.m., lightning struck a home at 19390 Queen Circle. That strike caused siding and electrical damage, but did not start a fire. No one was injured.
Just before 9:15 a.m., lightning started a fire on the second floor of a home at 1123 Main Street. Authorities say the residents were not home at the time. Neighbors reported the fire.
