Teacher to be Reimbursed for Cost of Substitute While in Afghanistan
Education Minnesota is giving a Winona teacher a big check today.
Matt Rueter will get a $13,000 check. He served in Afghanistan in 2011, and because of a Minnesota law he had to pay for his own substitute teacher, which cost him more than $11,000.
The law has changed since then, so delegates with the teacher’s union are opening their own wallets to pay him back.
