Burnsville Man Indicted in Shooting Death of Savage Man

A 23 year-old Burnsville man is now charged in the death of a 22 year-old Savage man. A Grand Jury indicted Kyle Dague with second degree manslaughter and reckless discharge of a firearm in a municipality Monday. Both are felonies.

Police were called to a Burnsville apartment just after 2:30 a.m. on December 31, 2011 on reports of shooting. When they arrived they found 22 year-old Justin Schauer dead.

Dague, who made the 911 call, told police the two had been playing a game with a gun where they would pull back the slide of the 9 millimeter and try to catch the ejected bullet in the air with their free hand.

Dauge told police Schauer must have shot himself, but autopsy results show he was shot in the forehead from about 6-8 inches away. A witness also told police Dauge had confessed to him that he pulled the trigger.

Dauge is due back on court on Oct. 22.
