Angie's List: Wedding Vendors Made 'Most Complained About' List

This is the time in Minnesota when so many weddings happen, but while planning the event can be fun, it can also be very emotional and stressful.

Despite a hefty price tag for the wedding, Angie Hicks says bridal shops, tuxedo rental shops, and wedding planners made Angie's List "most complained about categories" in 2011.

"When it came to bridal gown shops and tuxedo rental shops, it came down to orders not coming in on time and general customer service," Hicks said.

So how do you avoid a wedding day disaster?

"Allow yourself plenty of time, bridal shop owner Tracy Moore said. "Plenty of time for ordering your dress and alterations."

Hicks says you need a contract for every vendor you choose.

"Get contracts that are very detailed, saying when things will be done, and how much you have to pay," Hicks said. "Document phone calls, and that will be your best defense if something goes wrong."

Once you hire a vendor, make sure you only put the minimum deposit on a credit card. If there are problems with the vendor, it will be lot easier to dispute a claim if you do pay with a card.
