Woman Arrested for Breaking into Fridley Home, Putting up Curtains
A woman has been accused of stealing a vehicle, breaking into a Fridley home, and putting up curtains.
The woman, known only as “Jane Doe,” has been charged with one count of receiving stolen property and one count of trespassing. She has refused to identify herself or produce any identifying documents.
A Fridley resident said he and his brother returned to the Fridley home they were remodeling around 8 p.m. Monday, July 9. It’s located at 98 Rice Creek Way N.E. in Fridley.
The victim said he hadn’t been to the home for the past 10 days because it was being renovated, but when he arrived he found sheets covering the window from the inside, a back porch light on, and the locks had been changed.
Police officers then responded to the house and forced entry through the back door of the garage. Inside the garage, they found a white Ford Explorer with missing license plates. A VIN inquiry found that the vehicle had been stolen from Wisconsin.
Police knocked on the door and no one answered, so a K-9 officer was sent in and the suspect was found in a closet and pulled out.
After being arrested, the suspect wouldn’t talk to police or identify herself.
The victim said it was apparent someone had been living there because there were food items, clothing, and a shower curtain hung up inside the home. He also said a gas stove had been moved into the house from the garage and that someone had patched a hole in the bathroom wall with sheetrock and caulk.
