EmailGroundbreaking Ceremony Takes Place for Fallen Firefighters Memorial
On the state capitol grounds, you can find a memorial to fallen peace officers. But soon, it will be joined by one honoring the 208 firefighters who have died in the line of duty since 1881.
The memorial is set to be complete by Sept. 30.
A groundbreaking ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. Friday to kick off construction of a new $500,000 memorial. Firefighters across the state raised the money, but you can still contribute.
