West St. Paul Police Investigate Threat at Dakota Co. Service Center

West St. Paul Police and the Dakota County Sheriff's Office are investigating an alleged threat made against workers at the Dakota County Northern Service Center (NSC), located at 1 West Mendota Road in West St. Paul.  The building was put on lockdown for part of Thursday morning.

Police say someone called the Dakota Communications Center just after 9:15 a.m. Thursday, saying they were planning to bring a toy gun to the NSC for the purpose of threatening police in an attempt to be killed.

Police and Sheriff's deputies were able to obtain a name and photo of a possible suspect.  A detective assigned to NSC said she saw the suspect about five minutes earlier inside the building and that he had access to weapons.

The building was put on lockdown while approximately 40 officers conducted a sweep of the building.  They located the suspect in an office on the third floor just after 10:30 a.m. The 53-year-old Inver Grove Heights Man was taken into custody without incident.

No one was injured in the incident.  The service center is back open today.
