Minn. Lawmakers Plan Special Session for Flood Relief

People who lost everything in the flood are getting their chance for assistance.

FEMA and Homeland Security Teams were in northeastern Minnesota yesterday looking at private properties. Once damage assessments are done, the president will decide if there will be a disaster declaration for individuals. Homeowners could get up to $31,000.

Minnesota lawmakers are also planning a special session in late August to approve state relief for flooding.

Thirteen Minnesota counties are under a federal disaster declaration.

Governor Mark Dayton and legislative leaders say they anticipate the state paying about a quarter of the cost for infrastructure repairs. The federal government would cover the rest.
