Family, Friends Remember 20-Year-Old Drowning Victim

Funeral services were held Thursday for the 20-year-old man who drowned in Lake Minnetonka last week.

Family and friends gathered at Ridgewood Church in Minnetonka to remember Kennedy Maddox, a recent graduate of Minnetonka High School.

Maddox was fishing with friends near Big Island on June 26 when he jumped off of a boat and didn't resurface. He was not wearing a life jacket.

Searchers recovered his body the next day.

The Department of Natural Resources says at least 20 people have drowned in Minnesota so far this year.
