INTERVIEW: Bob McNaney Reflects on Reporting Career at KSTP

General Assignment and Investigative Reporter Bob McNaney is leaving KSTP after 17 years at Hubbard Broadcasting.

McNaney will become the Vice President of Crisis Communications and Media Relations for Padilla Speer Beardsley. McNaney started with KSTP-TV in April 1995.

McNaney said, "over the years, I have had the honor of covering every major story this market has seen. The Crash of Paul Wellstone's Plane, The St Peter/Comfrey Tornado, 35W bridge collapse and countless other stories.

Working with great friends, I have been blessed to receive many national awards for the work we have done here. It was a proud night in 2010 when I was able to bring home the National Emmy Award for Investigative Journalism on behalf of KSTP.

I have been honored to work for the Hubbard family and with countless talented people at KSTP. I also want to thank the staffs at WDIO.... KAAL and KSAX who, over the years, have welcomed me into their newsrooms to cover stories.

I am forever grateful to Harold Crump who hired me in 1995. Harold has been a friend for these many years. It has been a pleasure working for Lindsay Radford who is leading this newsroom to great successes.

My boys, Bobby and Jack,  have grown up in the newsroom, Trish and I met thanks to this business. I am excited about the opportunity which awaits at Padilla... a new challenge... a new step in my life. I will be working with some very talented people and with companies of all shapes and size across the globe.

McNaney married former KARE 11 Reporter Trisha Volpe in June 2011. Volpe is now an Attorney for Dorsey and Whitney in Minneapolis.
