Police: Dog Bites Officer During Robbinsdale Search

A Robbinsdale police officer was injured Thursday when a dog attacked him as he executed a search warrant at a local home.
Police say the incident happened around 2 p.m. as Robbinsdale officers and authorities with the Northwest Metro Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a home in the 3300 block of Zenith Avenue North.
Authorities were entering the home when a woman inside attempted to close the front door on them and a pit bull ran outside. The dog attacked an officer, biting him on the hand, police say. The officer then shot the dog multiple times.
The officer received medical treatment for the bite and the occupant of the home was cited for possession of an illegal substance.
Police have not released the condition of the dog.
