Roseville Police Investigate Possible $100K Identity Theft Scheme
Roseville Police are investigating a $100,000 credit card and debit card scheme.
In May, the Roseville Police Department started receiving calls from Rosedale Center employees that their credit and debit cards were being used throughout the United States even though the cards were still in their possession.
During an investigation, it was revealed that a connection was that all of the customers had recently used their cards at the Chinese Gourmet Express in the Rosedale food court.
On Thursday, June 21, authorities executed a search warrant at the restaurant and confiscated receipts, cell phones, computer equipment, surveillance images and a credit card machine.
After the search warrant, the Chinese Gourmet Express Corporate Office in California called the lead detective and said that there had been a computer breach about two weeks before that, which involved the theft of customer credit and debit card information. The corporate office said they never notified local law enforcement of the breach.
Police are attempting to locate victims of the scheme who had their credit or debit cards compromised after using it at this restaurant between March 1 and June 1. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-792-7297.
