Pawlenty Says to Look Elsewhere for Potential VP

Former Governor Tim Pawlenty says he told Mitt Romney's campaign to consider picking someone else as a running mate.

"I have indicated that I think I can best serve Governor Romney in other ways in particular as a volunteer and surrogate speaker in places where he can't go. I've encouraged people who've asked this question to-- in  the campaign to look at other prospect," Pawlenty said Sunday morning on Face the Nation.

Pawlenty stopped short of saying he would turn down the vice presidential role. He says being asked would be an honor.

Meanwhile, Pawlenty and other VP contenders spent the weekend at a Republican retreat to raise money for Mitt Romney.

Cameras weren't allowed inside the resort in the mountains near Salt Lake City, but ABC News reports Pawlenty, Rob Portman, Bob McDonnell, Bobby Jindal, and Paul Ryan were all there.

"Republicanapalooza" as it was called, was a chance for Romney's donors to get some face time with the presidential candidate.
