Electrical Fire Brings Crews to Downtown St. Paul, Cuts Power

Parts of downtown St. Paul were without power Saturday evening after an electrical fire broke out in a small underground sub-station.

Authorities were called to the area of Wacouta and 5th streets shortly before 6 p.m. on a report of the incident. The fire was quickly extinguished and no one in the area was in danger, according the St. Paul Fire Department.

Authorities shut off power to the area as they investigated. Xcel Energy expected power to be restored before 8 p.m. Saturday.
