In Eden Prairie, a Playground You Can Eat

it's an ongoing battle for many parents.  Getting kids to each vegetables isn't always easy.  In Eden Prairie, they may have found a solution.  They're turning vegetables into a playground.

"The City of Eden Prairie has been fortunate to receive a donation from a local couple to make this Edible Playground possible," said City Manager Rick Getschow.

The playground is a garden in Prairie View Park (17255 Peterborg Road).

It will be tended by kids from the local elementary school as well as the city's parks and recreation summer playgrounds program.

Getchow said the kids will grow and harvest fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, sunflowers, cucumbers, kohlrabi carrots.

"The goals of the program are to fight childhood obesity, help children better understand how their food is produced, and inspire them to eat healthy and nutritious food," said Getschow.
