Lightning May Have Sparked St. Cloud Apartment Building Fire
Lighting may be to blame for a fire at a St. Cloud apartment building overnight.
St. Cloud fire officials say the fire started around 2:30 a.m. at the eight-unit apartment building on 16th Street Southeast near 15th Avenue. Four apartments were damaged by the fire. Much of that damage is to the roof.
A woman who lives across the street from the complex says she heard a loud boom, went outside and saw smoke.
Repairs are expected to take a few days. The Red Cross is assisting 12 people.
The fire marshal is trying to determine if lightning was the cause.
