St. Paul Man Sentenced for Deadly Shooting Near Bar

A 32-year-old St. Paul man was sentenced Friday for a shooting outside of Rice Street Bar.

According to the Office of the Ramsey County Attorney, Byron Brantley was sentenced to 50 years in prison for a shooting that left one man dead and another injured.

His two co-defendants, Leandrews Miller, Jr., 28 and Xavier Buckhanan, 37, each pled to lesser charges. Miller received an eight year sentence,  and Buckhanan received a seven year sentence.

According to criminal complaints, Brantley, Buckhanan and Miller were at Born's Bar on the 800 block of Rice Street before the shooting. They were asked to leave the bar after getting into a fight with other customers.

A witness told investigators Trevell Glass was also at the bar. He was not part of the initial incident, but became involved when he tried to break-up the fight.

Authorities say Brantley took exception to Glass becoming involved in the fight, and fatally shot him near the intersection of Rice and Manitoba streets.

Brantley also shot Ryan Davis who was taken to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
