EPA Proposes New Air Quality Standards
Today, the Environmental Protection Agency is proposing new air quality standards that would lower the amount of soot that can be released into the air.
It targets diesel trucks, buses, power plants and other sources. Earlier this year, 11 states filed suits to force the Obama administration to update air standards.
Minnesota was not one of them.
Soot is linked to thousands of premature deaths as well as aggravating respiratory illnesses and heart attacks.
