Despite Rankings, Twins and Cubs Fans Share Common Loyalty

Minnesota Twins fans are celebrating twin wins this weekend. After Saturday's 11-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs, they now have one game left to sweep the series.

Still, the Twins have the worst record in the American League. Fans have remained loyal despite those losses and a new public policy poll says 65 percent of Minnesotans consider themselves Twins Fans. 58 percent think Manager Ron Gardenhire deserves to keep his job.

Though it has been decades since either the Twins or the Cubs have taken home a World Series title, seats to Saturday's game sold out. If the numbers Sunday are strong, it could be one of the best series of the season so far.

"This is the first time thousands of these people have ever been here. In fact it's really reminiscent of 2010, the year that Target Field opened, in that people are snapping pictures, and they're buying food they've never bought before. They're seeing things they've never seen before," said Kevin Smith, Executive Director of Public Affairs for the Minnesota Twins.
