Anonymous Donor Chain Used in Recent Kidney Transplants

An anonymous donor chain recently provided three kidney transplants between Minneapolis and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

It was the first time the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital was involved in a kidney transplant chain.

Here's how it works.

If someone in your family needs a kidney they go into a pool to find a match. When that match is found, they get a healthy kidney. Then you give up your healthy kidney and it goes into the pool for someone else.
