Minneapolis neighborhood fights graffiti

Community members in Minneapolis are bringing out their own paint to fight graffiti in their neighborhood.

Residents of the Corcoran neighborhood of Minneapolis are putting up fliers telling people how to protect their homes and businesses.

Ron Wuchko, a business owner, said he couldn’t keep up with the constant cleanup.

"It was bad, really bad, like every other day," said Ron Wuchko, a business owner. "It is frustrating. Especially when you get letters from the city when it's done saying ‘If you don't do anything, you are going to get fined’."

But Elise Kyllo has a vision. She, along with other members of the community, plan to put up 11 murals in graffiti trouble spots.

Kyllo got a $7,500 grant for the project and is looking for young artists.

"I want kids to come here (and) feel confident in painting even if they've never had experience of doing it," Kyllo said.
