5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is announcing that the highly rated “On the Road with Jason Davis” program will be airing on the Hubbard Broadcasting owned stations WDIO-TV in Duluth and WIRT-TV in Hibbing starting December 9th. Viewers can tune in Saturday nights from 10:35pm to 11:05p.m. to catch this popular local magazine program.
Hosted by veteran reporter Jason Davis, “On the Road” is a half-hour weekly program that showcases “ordinary Minnesotans doing extraordinary things.” The program began nearly 30 years ago as a regular news segment, which was then extended to a weekly program in January 2004. Several recent episodes have focused on the Duluth/Lake Superior/North Shore area.
“On the Road” has earned 11 regional Emmy Awards, including two in 2006 for Best Magazine Program (“Family Reunions”) and Best Documentary (“Spelling Bee”). In 2005, Jason picked up two Emmys for Best Documentary (“On the Road to Costa Rica”) and Best On-Camera Host. In 2000, Jason was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle for 25 years of contributing news reports, feature stories and documentaries to Twin Cities’ television.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” says Jason. “After all these years without access to viewing ‘On the Road,’ our friends in the Duluth/Arrowhead area can finally watch our award-winning program on a weekly basis.”
