5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is the exclusive local broadcast home for the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night.

Minneapolis/Saint Paul, MN – KSTP-TV - 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS secures the exclusive local broadcast rights for the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football in 2010.  

If Brett Favre returns to the team as many speculate, the Monday, October 11th game has an interesting twist. It will have the Vikings traveling to New York to face Favre’s former team, the Jets.  Kick off is at 7:30 p.m.  A special pre game edition of “SportsWrap with Joe Schmit” will air at 6:30 p.m.  

The Monday, December 20th game features the Vikings against division rivals, the Chicago Bears.  Kick off is at 7:30 p.m.  A special pre game edition of “SportsWrap with Joe Schmit” will air at 6:30 p.m.  

Ray Mirabella, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS General Sales Manager, said, “We’re very much looking forward to the Monday Night Football events and delivering great broadcast numbers to a massive audience for our advertisers.”

Last year’s Monday night game against the Green Bay Packers on 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS delivered a record breaking 40.8 (54.3 share) in household ratings. In addition, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS’ special pre-game show “SportsWrap” was also strong with a 19.0 household rating (28 share).
