Hear Shannon Peterson Talk About Her Daughter

WEB VIDEO EXTRA

Abby Peterson was two weeks away from her sixth birthday.

She seemed to have just recovered from the Chicken Pox. But on Feb. 18, 2001, she fell violently ill and died 10 hours after showing symptoms.

Abby never got the Chicken Pox vaccine.

Her mother admits that, at the time, she was not a vaccine advocate.

She is now.

"(Parents) wouldn't put their children in a car without a car seat nowadays," Shannon Duffy Peterson said while sitting in her Sleepy Eye home recently.

"Why would they put their child in a school without a vaccine?"
