Wis. Committee Meets on Lawmaker's Expulsion

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A legislative committee has met to consider whether to strip a troubled state lawmaker of his job.

The Assembly Special Committee on Ethics and Standards of Conduct must recommend whether the full body should kick Rep. Jeff Wood out. Wood, a Chippewa Falls independent, has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs three times in the last year.

The committee met for the first time briefly Wednesday. The group decided to begin their work by gathering police reports, squad car videos and other documents in Wood's cases.

It was unclear when the panel would meet again.

Wood has said he will not seek re-election next year.
