Updated: 09/25/2009 10:27 AM KSTP.com | Wood: The Twins Are Giving Me HopeI consider myself a glass half empty kind of girl. I've found when you expect the worst, you're usually happily surprised. Now, with the Twins run at the playoffs though, I can't help thinking we're going to win the division!
I just want that division title that badly. Then I want to take that title and go all the way to the World Series. I say we, because I think of all Twins fans as part of the team. I know, I know, kind of corny. Any way, as hopeful as I am, and as much as I believe in my boys of summer, I can't help worry about getting my hopes up. This "glass half full" mentality was developed you see in my living room on January 17, 1999. It was there that my hopes were built up higher than ever before. It was the day that I was going to finally see my Vikings make it to the Super Bowl. By now we all know what happened that fateful day, so let's not rehash the events, but I actually cried over sports that day and vowed never to get my hopes that high again. Now, nearly 10 years later, here I am again, hopeful that I will be able to see one of my favorite pro sports team make it to the top. I know the odds are stacked against us, but those guys have guts and heart and that can be a dangerous combination. So, here we go again. If we don't make it, I don't think I'll be as heartbroken as I was when the Falcons bashed my dreams a decade ago, but I'll still be sad. So Twins, how about you go and change me to a girl whose glass is half full. GO TWINS!!!! |
