SHAW: The Coming Weekend on the Gridiron

   Week four in the 2009 college football season sends the Minnesota Golden Gophers to Chi-Town to face off against the Northwestern Wildcats.  Northwestern is 2-1, and lost last week 37-34 at Syracuse.  Yes, that's the same Syracuse Orange that took the Gophers to overtime before falling in week one.  And the same Northwestern that beat Minnesota here last year.  But they are going to be down this year.  I haven't even looked at what the point spread is. I don't have to. The the Gophers handle business 31-20.

   On to the NFL...and the land of the Purple.  More than a few people have told this week they expect the 49ers to beat Minnesota in the Vikings' home opener.  I say, you've got to be kidding me?  I know this is the NFL...where anthing can happen on "Any Given Sunday."  But, I expect Minnesota to show up for all four quarters, not just the last two...which is what happened in week one and week two.  The Adrian Peterson Express continues...Vikings 23 49ers 13.
