When there is big news, I love the fact that our station will drop everything to bring it to you. Brett Favre coming to the Vikings is big news in my mind and I was thrilled when we were able to bring you his arrival live on 5 Eyewitness News Midday on Tuesday. I was amazed at the reaction that our coverage received from the national media, local radio outlets and even the public in general on Facebook and just in conversations. I think most of you know by now that we are the only station that is willing to devote air time when something big is happening. Granted, it was pretty funny hovering over him as Coach Childress drove on the interstate toward Eden Prairie but it was also one of those things you couldn't turn away from. Some of you may disagree but I respectfully say that is the nature of news. You can't please everyone but we certainly try. Now, as far as the subject of Favre in purple, I am on board and ready to see him help us win some games. I know some Vikings fans are having a hard time but we've had too many years of heartbreak. It is our time now. We are due. It may not end with a Super Bowl ring but this announcement has added a flurry of excitement to the season. It reminds me of the days of Daunte and Randy. Of course, this is even bigger than that if Favre can pull it off. So, this brings me to my next request: Hey, Wayne Gretzky, it's time to come out of retirement and play for the Minnesota Wild. What do you think? He's only 48. It's worth a shot.
