SAWKAR: Bodies

If you saw Body Worlds at the Science Museum, you know what an impact these types of exhibits can have. You can really get an up close look at the human body like you have never seen it before. I got a look at the Bodies exhibit at the Mall of America. It's educational, moving and emotional all at the same time. I am especially intrigued by the blood vessels in the human body and how they are able to preserve them so delicately for this exhibit.

I was also happy to see a container for people to throw away their cigarettes because once they see the lung of a chain smoker, they might be shocked into quitting. It was quite disturbing.

At one point, I got a chance to hold a real human brain that had gone through the special process to be put on display. It is a very bizarre feeling to have a brain in your hand.

I don't recommend this exhibit for very young children or children like my 6 year old daughter who might be a little taken back to see dead people. I do recommend it for people like my 9 year old son who will be fascinated by it all. They actually encourage school tour groups and give them special pricing. The director of operations for the tour is one of my good friends from Boston where I went to college. It was fun to see Barrett Newman again. It's amazing what great things old friends end up doing. He has travelled the world with this amazing exhibit.
