KEATING: S. St. Paul Mom Will Be in Court
Today we get answers. What do South Saint Paul Police and Dakota County Prosecutors know that would lead them to believe Patricia Becht killed her own son and tried to do the same to her 11-year old daughter before allegedly trying to take her own life?
To charge a mother with killing her own children is a big step which is perhaps why they haven't made the arrest and filed these charges before today. But I am wondering what paramedics and police saw when they entered that house on First Avenue in South St. Paul to have them quickly report that they were on the scene of a homicide. Or did they hear something...did Becht say something to make them believe this was more than a medical call or accident of some kind?
Neighbors have told us the 16-year old daughter came home to find her mom, sister and brother inside and called 9-1-1. And the sister of Patricia Becht confirms that the single mom had been dealing with depression for years. Did she snap? Did she force the kids to overdose as sources have told us...we expect to hear all of those questions answered inside a Hastings court room this morning.
